This could certainly earn tinsel-town the title of North America’s West End, as in London’s iconic incubator district, where influential young Brit’s in the 70’s & 80’s challenged and changed an entire fashion establishment forever. Now with Los Angeles’ in flux of young international brands banking on a piece of American pie, (sales and celebs) LA has truly become the platform for what’s next in fashion.
Australian born, now Los Angeles based designer Nicholas Bowes, who recently appeared on “America’s Next Great Restaurant” and his street cult-chic line KRMA, (Kangaroos Roam Mainland Australia) has certainly made LA’s who’s next radar. No stranger to the fashion world, Bowes began his career as a model in the late 90’s, but soon cultivated his fashion interests into designing vintage graphic tees.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2006, Bowes has expanded his down under tees to wear with his now perfect wovens, rock star leather leggings, and his iconic cropped leather jackets that Pink and Alicia Keyes just can’t stop wearing. Add Adrian Grenier, Fergie and Bowes’ gal pal Nina Dobrev to KRMA’s roster of fans, and you have a brand that’s become a cult celebrity must have. Dobrev loves the KRMA line so much, she has approached Bowes to collaborate on a capsule collection of sexy leather jackets.
