Jet-set, green glamour attacks summer
12:41 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
It’s one of H&M’s most important new collections - a range of more sustainable fashion called Conscious, which will show exactly what can be done with greener materials. To launch this range, which arrives in-store in mid April, there’s a campaign shot by Sölve Sundsbo which has models Abbey Lee and Natasha Poly, alongside Clement Chabernaud and Ben Hill, wearing key pieces from the all-white collection.
For women, it’s all about the romantic 70s style with a mix of lace, crochet and Broderie Anglaise. For men, Conscious offers modern essentials that work both for spring and summer. The collection also includes an organic cotton shopper that is being sold in aid of H&M’s project with UNICEF, All for Children, which protects children’s rights in the cotton-producing areas of India.
Jet-set glamour this summer
Planning and dreaming about that longed-for summer holiday can be almost as good as the reality. H&M is offering a shot of holiday glamour in selected stores from 31st March - a collection that is sporty and chic, embodying the idea of the Riviera lifestyle. There are modern versions of luxurious classics, like flowing maxi-dresses, Grecian-influenced draped dresses and animal print kaftans. There are also clean-cut collarless jackets and essential shirts as well as T-shirts in neutral shades of sand, desert and tan. The accessories dictate the look with large jewel-stone earrings and chain necklaces.

‘Indian cotton prices globally competitive’ – Expert
11:44 PM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
The main reason according to experts is the supply-demand mechanism, wherein, supply is not able to keep pace with demand in global markets and other factors.
Mohit Shah, Director of the more than a 100-years old Mumbai-based, Gill & Co says, “It has become extremely difficult to judge the future trends of cotton as they are determined by so many factors”.
“Obviously prices are quite high right now and at the same time supply demand is tight as well, so prices in general are expected to remain firm over the next 2-3 months”, he informed.

Organic clothing is incredibly soft for sensitive baby skin
12:23 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
"Safety is the most common factor," says Grosser. "Organic Clothing textiles are processed without synthetic additives, reducing parents' concerns about chemical residue left on the fabric,Cotton Voile Fabric that touches their babies' skin." The safety factor does indeed seem to influence parents, as many have started buying not just organic clothes but also organic toys, reducing fears of babies ingesting toxic finishes and chemical additives.
Comfort is another factor, according to Grosser, whose online store offers only products made from organic materials. "Parents love the fact that organic clothing is incredibly soft, suitable for sensitive baby skin, and absorbs moisture while still feeling dry."
New parents spend a lot of money on their babies, and much of this expense is often spent on products made entirely from synthetic materials in factories that emit toxic chemicals into the air and that are soaked in chemicals such as petroleum scours, flame and soil retardants, and formaldehyde.

As far as we know, this will be the only major Fashion Week that will send short, mature, plus-sized and/ or disabled models as well as models of all colours down the catwalk – we think this is very important and will create a big stir in the press. Clothing producers announce two-day strike
3:59 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
On March 7, branded clothing retailers like Pantaloons, Shoppers Stop, Porvouge, Arvind Barnds and many others had pulled down their shutters in protest against the excise duty.
But since the shut-down and the talks following the same, seems to have not achieved a breakthrough, the apparel producers are striking again for two days.
Mr Mehta warned that the imposition of the duty will lead to a negative growth for the around Rs 1,500 billion industry which was growing at a brisk 10-12 percent per annum.
He further warned of job losses in the sector as producers were already stifled by a surge in cotton prices in the last few months.
ATIRA - Premier textile research institute takes big leap forward
3:28 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
Among the valuable various initiatives ATIRA has provided to help the textile-value chain in the past few years, is in the modernization process of around 450 cotton ginneries. Between 2005 and 2006, an ATIRA project also helped ginneries improve realizations between 0.5 percent and 1.0 percent. This when seen in the correct perspective is a very big figure considering the huge volumes processed by individual ginneries.
The institute has also helped reduce power consumptions by 10-20 percent in cotton ginneries. In another project undertaken by the premier institute, gin productivity has increased by 25 percent by carrying out modernization of equipment. ATIRA has also helped reduce trash in Gujarat deshi cotton by 40 percent.
It had developed a prototype of a moisturizing system of cotton, which will help maintain correct and uniform moisture permissible in the cotton bale. It is now in the process of setting up a pilot plant for the same.
During the cotton marketing season, ATIRA on an average, tests around 50,000 samples of cotton and provides online results. It is one of the biggest sources of revenue for the autonomous body.

The eight pavilions accommodate different themed areas, enriching the over 71,000 square meters with space for reception and entertainment, but also artistic arrangements and meetings dedicated to enhancing the Shoes, footwear world.
"MICAM ShoEvent is a point of reference for operators from around the world – says the Chairman Artioli – for the organisational ability of an event which draws strength from the quality of made–in Italy footwear, succeeding in satisfying the needs of Italian and international operators. The strong point of the event is the ability to offer tools to companies and visitors that complete the training of operators in the sector. ”

Ck One celebrates the spirit of Woman’s Day!

Pick a pair of flirty summer shorts from CK One for your babe OR get a pair of 3/4th and team it up with a fitted tee. Splash some color into those shorts and make them the next big thing. Shorter the shorts, the better the look. Summer and the beach wait for the perfect celebration of the liberation day.

Cricket World Cup troubling garment sector
3:32 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
In order to ensure that power failure does not cause any trouble to the enthusiastic cricket lovers watching the match on television, the garment factory owners have been directed to keep their units closed for six hours every day during evening, till conclusion of the final match on April 2.
Such an order has infuriated the five thousand garment exporters in the country. The BGMEA has forwarded a letter to the Prime Minister wherein it has claimed that, such closure has posed a threat to the country’s business reputation.
Also, they have mentioned that, the garment units have already started experiencing the heat of the order, which if not withdrawn at once would not allow them to fulfil their export commitments, in time, BGMEA said.
All the garment firms have already made export commitments, and if they fail to timely ship these orders, it would infuriate the buyers. This would certainly undermine the country’s image of being a leading garment exporter, it added.

‘Apparel producers have no choice but to hike retail prices’ – MD, Shoppers Stop
11:18 PM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments
Raw material prices, mainly of cotton have doubled from a year ago. This has induced clothing retailers to hike their prices. The second blow came from the budget, in which branded apparels have been now been subjected to an excise duty of 10 percent.
Apparel brands will now have no option, but to increase their retail prices or face reduced margins. Mr Shrikhande believes the effective price hike would be in the region of 10-15 percent.
