Freshpair to celebrate ‘National Underwear Day’

5:47 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments

On August 5, Freshpair will celebrate the 9th Annual National Underwear Day by urging Americans to throw away their underwear! According to a recent Freshpair poll, 73% of Americans wear stained, overstretched, hole-y underwear that is well past its expiration date.
Our solution: celebrate National Underwear Day 2011 by giving away 5,000 pairs of underwear to men and women all across the country, from August 1-31st to replace this unfit underwear with a fresh pair. Sound familiar? It should! Last year, startled by the fact that 80% of Americans wear the same style of underwear their entire adult lives, we gave away 5,000 pairs with the chance to try something new.
Since then, we’ve successfully lowered that to 79.9999%, and this year, we’re continuing our mission to show people just how great new underwear can be.
"People think just because you can’t see their underwear, it doesn’t matter how it looks. National Underwear Day changes that opinion, year after year. Last year's response was huge, so we know people are open to change,” says Freshpair President Matthew Butlein.
Regardless of how many pairs they own, the average American man or woman alternates between the same 10 pairs of underwear or panties, each one clocking approximately 900 hours of wear a year. That’s five weeks worth of sweating, stretching and being sat on. Factor in roughly 60 wash and dry cycles, and it’s a miracle they’re still in one piece.

Bella Center presents new CIFFKIDS team

5:58 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments

The childrens fashion fair CIFFKIDS, which is part of Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) in Bella Center from August 4-7, will have two new ladies on the team in August: Project manager Bettina Randazzo and consultant Eva Kathrine Skytte.
“For us, having a dynamic duo like Bettina Randazzo and Eva Kathrine Skytte on board CIFFKIDS is a real plus for the organisation. Bettina Randazzo was previously manager of CIFFKIDS for several years – so it is wonderful having her back on the team,” says Bolette Hvalsøe, Exhibition Director for CIFF.
Bettina Randazzo and Eva Kathrine Skytte will be responsible for stand sales at CIFFKIDS as well as communication with the individual exhibitors. In addition, the pair will also assist Bolette Hvalsøe with the task of continually developing the CIFFKIDS concept.
“A new and creative approach is required, and we already have several good ideas on the drawing board. Our ambition is to elevate CIFFKIDS to a high international level, so the fair once again enjoys a position in the league of Europe’s leading children’s fairs,” says Bettina Randazzo, adding:
“It’s an exciting task, and one which I’m really looking forward to starting. CIFFKIDS is, in a way, my ‘baby’, and I therefore feel completely on home ground. I’m very much looking forward to meeting both new and old customers who I have worked together with over the years in connection with my time as project manager at CIFFKIDS.”

Berghaus has increased its focus on Germany with a significant investment in the market. Following the restructure of the global business earlier in the year, the company has now opened its EMEA regional office in Munich, a dedicated showroom and regional territory showrooms.
To achieve sales ambitions and implement a ‘closer to the customer’ strategy, Berghaus has also strengthened its sales force in Germany and Austria, with the appointment of two new agencies to represent the brand in Germany and a new joint agency agreement in Austria.
The Berghaus EMEA regional office is located within the MOC Order Centre in Munich. A team based in the new office will be responsible for Berghaus sales, marketing and customer services across Europe. Led by EMEA sales director Simon Roberts and European product line manager Sebastien Willefert, Berghaus EMEA will also input directly into product development, ensuring that new ranges will have commercial appeal across Europe.

RTRW Inc plans expansion

5:37 AM by Fashion Fan · 0 comments

Philippines-based Real Time Real Wear (RTRW) Inc. will be opening 10 stores in the country by 2012 under its brand ‘Charlie’. Beginning middle of 2013, the company also plans to expand in the international market, with its first store in Malaysia, according to the company’s CEO Rikki Dee Jr.
The newcomer brand is going to position itself for its quality, trendy, but affordable apparel. RTRW has allocated a budget of PHP 10 million for its expansion related expenses this year.
Currently, RTRW has only one outlet situated at The Block in SM. Its larger stores are soon going to open in SM San Lazaro and SM Fairview. While a concept store will open in November in SM Manila, another five stores will be opened in 2012.
Before opening its outlets abroad, RTRW has a vision to be known as a “reliable, affordable, and active fashion brand” in Philippines, according to Dee. He said that the most costly item is priced at only PHP 999 whereas the price of the most affordable item is about PHP 300.
In its first three months of operation, RTRW has seen overwhelming sales and the company expects to recover its investments in about eights months time. Nearly 70 percent of the company’s sales are women’s apparels.
